Kirsten Bengtson-Lykoudis is a writer and photographer based in Washington, D.C. She is the author of Aegean Blues, a travel memoir about teaching darkroom photography on the Greek island of Samos. A former New York gallery director & college instructor of photography and photo history, she is currently in the M.A. in Nonfiction Writing Program at Johns Hopkins University, AAP. While living in New York, Bengtson-Lykoudis wrote exhibition and restaurant reviews for artslant.com, participated in fiction and nonfiction writing workshops at the New School University and Mediabistro, and worked in photography galleries in Midtown and Chelsea. She has a BA in Russian Literature from the University of Minnesota, and an MFA in Fine Art photography from the University of South Florida. She took a humor writing workshop with former New Yorker editor Daniel Menaker at the Key West Literary Workshops in 2018, and has attended the Sanibel Island Writer's Conference in 2015 and 2017.
